About Project

AUCA-NMBU project is long-term cooperation activity that is supported by the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education ( The three partners of the project are AUCA, Kyrgyz National Agraian Academy and Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

The general objective of the project is to maintain and develop further the educational and research partnership established between AUCA and NMBU through development of graduate curriculum in economics, cooperation in Bologna-related reforms, support for researchbased education, and closer collaboration through administrative, faculty and student exchanges. To achieve the overall objective, the project addresses three specific objectives over which to implement programming activities.

1. Strengthening graduate curriculum in economics, agricultural economics and agribusiness

2. Implementation of Bologna-related reforms

3. Fostering research-based and internationally-oriented education

The Project is aimed at:

  • development of new courses at Master in Economics ,
  • encouragement of student exchange at Bachelor, Master and Phd levels,
  • facilitation of the research for PhD students,
  • improvement of  teaching methods through teachers exchnage and introduction of innovative teaching methods.

The overall objectives of the project are:

  1. creation of a new Masters in economics at AUCA;
  2. initiation of the development of a master’s program in gender studies at AUCA
  3. development of a PhD curriculum by launching the pilot PhD program at KNAU through PhD exchanges at NMBU.

Development of new courses

Together with the School of Economics and Business at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences ( AUCA Economics program will develop and co-teach nine new courses:

  1. Development Economics
  2. Econometrics II
  3. Energy Economics
  4. Behavioural Economics
  5. Agricultural Policy and International Trade
  6. Environmental Economics
  7. Finance and Investment
  8. Environmental Accounting
  9. Management Science/ Operations Research
  10. Management Strategy Development
  11. Gender and Development

The courses are co-taught together with Norwegian lectors. The high quality of the developed courses was confirmed by both the students and the administration of both institutions.
