![]() Research at AUCA
Academic research is an integral part of the liberal arts education and our mission at AUCA. Research not only enriches the learning and teaching experience, it also serves society at large by deepening our knowledge of the world around us and informing leaders and innovators making decisions and policy in business, science, and government. Our faculty are constantly striving to expand their own knowledge base through investigation of a wide range of issues: ethnic relations and conflict, role of informal institutions (clans, patronage, nepotism) in nation-building, politics of transition states, linguistic anthropology, rise of Islam in Central Asia, re-emergence of cultural traditions in the post-Soviet era, Kyrgyz philosophy and literary traditions, approaches to development, internet search technology, micro-credit lending, bank sector reform, use of technology in teaching, mathematical models in economics, environmental policy development, media and civil society, mass media and gender, human trafficking, and labor migration, to name but a few. In addition to the individual research efforts of our dedicated and passionate faculty, AUCA hosts several research centers that enhance the learning atmosphere and knowledge generation capacity of the University.
