American University of Central Asia 2010-2011
AUCA serves Central Asia where young democracies are emerging in nation states accustomed to more restrictive forms of governance. We develop the skills and the attitude of mind that fosters sensitivity to the region's rich traditions and adaptability for its demoncratic development.
Based on the American liberal arts college model, we have a credit-hour system and a commitment to freedom of expression and inquiry and academic honesty.
We enroll 1,200 students (40% men and 60% women) from 15 countries: Afghanistan, China, Germany, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, USA and Uzbekistan.
AUCA employs 125 full-time and 60 part-time international and local faculty members. Students receive a lot of individual attention, With one faculty member for every ten students.
AUCA sits in the heart of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a city in the shadows of mountains, our campus is surrounded by parks. We are near the city’s government building, libraries, museums and theatres. Neighboring art galleries, cafes, shops add to AUCA's cosmopolitan atmosphere.
AUCA Academic Programs
Preparatory Program: Computer Basics, English, Math, Study Skills and TOEFL Preparation.
Undergraduate Majors: American Studies*, Anthropology*, Business Administration, Economics*, European Studies*, International and Business Law, International and Comparative Politics*, Journalism and Mass Communications, Psychology*, Sociology*, and Software Engineering*. *Graduates of these Bachelor degree programs receive a US accredited Bard College Diploma as well as the AUCA Kyrgyz State Diploma.
Graduate Program: Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Modern foreign language courses offered at AUCA: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Kyrgyz, Russian and Spanish.
AUCA offers a generous financial aid program, which provides merit- and need-based scholarships to qualified students. Almost 65% of our students receive scholarships. Financial Aid awards range from partial to full tuition scholarships.
Housing placement assistance is provided by the Office of Student Affairs.

AUCA Resources
American University of Central Asia is proud to be one of the best technologically equipped universities in Central Asia with 375 computers and 14 multimedia classrooms. All students have access to Wi-Fi and wired internet connections throughout the campus.
AUCA Library has a vast collection of print, electronic, and multimedia resources and materials, including over 70,000 books and more than 30,000 electronic books. The library web-site provides access to an online catalogs, online databases and search engines, such as: EBRARY, JSTOR, EBSCO, Springer, Oxford Reference on-line, Cambridge University Press, Columbia International Affairs Online, AGORA, Google Scholar and the DOAJ with access to more than 2,400 journals.
Other valuable University resources include the Law Clinic, Business Clinic, Psychology Laboratory, Social Research Center and Media Production Studio.
