ECONOMICS

WHAT IS ECONOMICS?

Economics is the social science that analyzes the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services.

ABOUT US

China, Russia, Kazakhstan, India, Vietnam. The fastest growing economies in the world are in Asia, and Central Asia is once again a vital crossroads and economic link for the entire continent. Now more than ever it is vital to understand the market-oriented economics underlying rapid changes in this region. In the Economics Program, you will gain the theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to jump right into a career in the finance, banking, and government sectors. Taking into account the values and needs of the Central Asian economic community, the program emphasizes the issues of economies in transition, as well as the phenomenon known as globalization.

Currently the Economics Department is supported by the Soros Foundation (U.S.A.), ACCELS (U.S.A.), DAAD (Germany), Monbukagakuse (Japan), Aga-Khan Foundation, the Central Eurasia Project (CEP), and the International Higher Education Support Program (HESP).
