Admissions & Financial Aid

Dear Prospective Student,

Welcome to the American University of Central Asia. We believe that this University represents something new and exciting in higher education, not just for the region, but for all of the CIS. AUCA provides an opportunity for students throughout Central Asia and beyond to receive a very high quality American liberal arts education at a fraction of the cost of attending a university in the United States, Europe and East Asia. We strongly believe that AUCA will soon become a model for higher education reform throughout the CIS.

What is different about AUCA?

  • About 95% of our graduates find good jobs in their fields after graduation. Employers hire our graduates because of the reputation of our programs, our graduates’ fluency in English, and our graduates’ ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Our graduates are completely fluent in English. English is rapidly becoming an international language, and graduates who are comfortable with English have a significant advantage in the marketplace. They are highly sought after, not just by international firms, but also by many local firms working internationally.
  • AUCA sends a much higher proportion of its graduates abroad to attend graduate school than any other university in the region. In some departments as many as 65% of graduates are accepted to international graduate schools. Our graduates have gone on to Harvard Business School, Indiana University, Georgetown University, Yale, Tufts University, the London School of Economics, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and many other institutions with excellent international reputations.
  • The excellence of our AUCA education is recognized worldwide. All of our programs are approved by Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Education, and our graduates receive both the Kyrgyz National Diploma and an American baccalaureate degree. No other institution in the region offers both. We are also full members of AAICU (The Association of American International Colleges and Universities).
  • AUCA is known for maintaining the very highest standards of academic honesty and institutional integrity.
  • AUCA’s students come from more than 27 different countries around the world. The campus offers a stimulating, multicultural atmosphere and an opportunity to meet and learn from students from diverse cultures and countries.
  • Our faculty use an American approach to pedagogy. We emphasize creative and independent work. We understand that passive learning, sitting in a lecture hall, is not enough. Graduates must be given the tools that they need to communicate effectively, to work in teams, to work independently, and to think critically.
  • We encourage students to express their opinions openly and to participate fully in the governance of the University. Our students publish The New Star, a completely independent voice of the students, and we include two student representatives on the Academic Senate, the University policy-making body. At AUCA, your opinion matters.
  • Bishkek is a bustling city of more than 700,000 people. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan, and you will find many cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as cafes, discos, and other entertainment options.

In short, we believe that the American University of Central Asia offers an exciting, yet demanding higher education alternative for the best and brightest students in Central Asia and beyond. If you would like to learn more about AUCA, please do not hesitate to contact us:
